Scrubbers
The classical method of treating the air contaminated with acids, heavy metals, particles etc. is based on using wet towers, or scrubbers.
The scrubber’s principle of operation is the “flushing” of the air with a neutralizing solution that is injected in the direction opposite to that of the air stream. The solution absorbs the contaminants and neutralizes the acid fumes contained in the air.
The neutralizing solution is spinning inside the scrubber and is occasionally refreshed by streaming the solution out and replacing it with water.
There exist vertical scrubbers (whereas the air is streamed upwards and the neutralizing solution is injected downwards), and horizontal scrubbers (whereas the air is streamed horizontally from one side to another and the neutralizing solution is injected perpendicularly, i.e. downwards).
The scrubber dimensions (diameter and height) are defined in accordance with the required stream speed and the time of achieving the complete neutralization and absorption of contaminants, as well as in accordance with the required stream speed in the mist eliminator.
Elad Technologies specializes in designing and manufacturing scrubbers for the treatment of contaminated air.
Mist eliminators
Contaminated air often contains droplets (aerosols) of contaminants.
In such a case the air cleaning must comprise the separation of droplets (elimination of mist) from the air stream and the drainage of the contaminated liquid for treatment or removal.
Mist eliminators carry out physical separation of contaminated droplets from the air stream.
There are various types of mist eliminators, the most widespread of which are as follows:
Mist eliminators mostly comprise a substrate flushing mechanism that is essential for the prevention of the latter’s obstruction.
